On the Search for a Nice, Functional, WP Chart Plugin
Not an expert. So, not an expert's expert opinion. Having read several of the typical chirpy simplistic reviews of charts availabe as plugins for WP, and having elcited many potentials with the search term "chart", I was at first happy to have what appear to be an abundence of choices.
So I browsed a bit, pick a likely candidate, and it was not very satisfactory, I tried again, and again and then decided to go through them all systmatically in the hopes of finding one that would meet my needs.
My Perceived needs
- Does what I want - more later
- Does not cost a lot. Free is fine, but this seems like the type of thing that ought to get monetary recognition if it is well developed.
- Resides on my server - not in Google or some far off land
- What I know I want
- Control of appearance
- Control of number formatting
- Control of size and location on the page
- Control of aspect ration
- Line chart, scatter chart, bar chart - at least
- The ability to link to files, or a database
- Easy updates of the charts
- Stuff that some chart makers advertize
- automated updates - sound cool, though my data as least now updates once a week at the most often, and once month is more typical. So easy updating is enough for now.
- Tool Tips - hadn't thought about that before, not sure yet how this would make my charts better, but chances are I will try this for somethings, if I end up with a platform that has them.

- Inoffensive colors; discrete, subdued lines;
- precision placement of numbers
- precision presentation of numbers
- line chart with different length data. - The chart may have some data that does not start or end at the ends of the chart.
4/17/15 NOTHING HAPPENED. Was not able to create a chart in WP 4.1.1.

SLOW!!!!! Took forever to open the website, just to look at it. The how to get started was nice, quick, worked. I type in 4 pieces of date to test the chart, had bit of a tussle getting it to copy, - could have been my bad; the took at least 2 minutes on the clock to render in my site. That is once I noticed it was going slowly, I look up at the time on screen - 7:09. The time was 7:11 when it finally rendered. This is a crazy wait time for an image.
The are free and premium version. Free comes with advertising - which I guess is the diagonal banner on the corner of the chart. Pretty inoffensive. If the slowness turness out to be a fluke, and there are ways to customize the chart, this would be worth paying something for.
